Hello everyone! I’m Elena from Group 16 “Poverty and Shared Prosperity” and I would like to talk about my experience with the project Virtual Study Abroad Exchange.

It was a challenging experience, at the beginning I decided to attend this project cuz it was necessary to go on with my studies. I was assigned to the Group 16 ” Povery and shared prosperity”, honestly I was scared because I had no idea of what to talk about, I’m a shy girl, who prefers to listen to what other people have to say and observe the whole situation. But in this case it was very challenging, honestly I was worried about my japanese level and i’m not so good to express my feelings to the others and feeling a sense of inadequacy. Somehow I managed to open up to try very hard to communicate with everyone even their even their language level was much higher than mine.

Thanks to the project, I have spoken about a very important theme that usually i don’t speak about. My knowledge about this topic was poor, during these two months of project, i have discovered very heartful and very important projects who take cares of the invisible men and the poor families.
When this project has begun, during the 自由会話 I didn’t speak at all, I didn’t understand what the other member of the group were talking about, fortunately the member encoureged and helped me. In my case the beginning was difficult, struggle to figure out, scared to fail, my self confidence with japanese was not so high, but with the time I could “fight these demons,” and slowly I begun to speak more and I’m happy about that. I think this project is a very good opportunity to improve your japanese level, make new friends, improved your vocabulary reading others groups’ articles and create good memories.

I can say I was very lucky to had the opportunity to join the project, I have learned a lot from the other groups too by reading their articles and realised that we should talk more about all the topics of each groups. As you can read I’m not so good with words, so all I can say is thank you to my group member and all the people i’ve met during the 自由会話 it was a pleasure work together with you guys. You helped me so much and I will keep doing my best to improve more.

THANK YOU
