I’m Siria, a first year student, and I was in 20th team. We had to talk about Environmental Protection. Even if it’s a complex topic, it’s very important and dear to me.


First of all, I wished to say how much I’m enjoying this project: I think that it’s the best way to improve our japanese! During the first meeting I was very shy but then I lost my shyness and now I’m feeling much more at ease.

Did you experience the same situation as me at the beginning?


In these two months I learned a lot of new words and new things. I loved reading the articles on nolbrick. I realized that our planet’s diying because of us and I wish we could help prevent it.

Let me know your opinion about Environmental Protection!

However, coming back to the project, I wanted to share my feedback with you, regarding what could be changed to improve it.


Well, in my team there was a person from the master course, two people attending the 3rd year, two Japanese students and me, from the 1st year. I think you can immagine the difficulty to understand them and speak about this topic. It was such a challenge! But They were so nice to me and I started to understand even better. My advice is that the teams should be more omogenous, in order not to create such a language gap.

For example a person who attends the master/3rd, one that attend the 2nd year, two japanese and one that attend the 1st year. In this way there is not too much disparity in the Japanese level. And about this I was in the 3rd year 自由会話 too and I think it’s better to do:
1 year person in second year 自由会話
2nd/3rdyear person in 3rd year 自由会話


Another problem I noticed it’s that it’s a bit difficult to meet together on slack due to the time zone and our school lessons, so I think it’s better to set a timetable in which to talk.
What do you think about this?


My problem is obviously my ability to understand Japanese so i found very difficult to understand bureaucratic explanations, but i think I’m not the only one, so I suggest to explain them in Japanese and Italian or English, so everyone can understand everything. I tried to use google translate to understand them, but  of course Google is not reliable, so I probably i did a lot of mistakes.


Then this project’s objective is to learn Japanese in another way, but I didn’t learn any grammar: that’s why I think it’d be helpful to make a list of unknown grammar and once a week, meet to learn this unknown grammar with a Senpai.
Another advice regards the obligation to use jalea: the jalea team made a great job and I think it would be very helpful.
And finally it’d be awesome if we would have to correct our text messages between us.
These are the things I would have liked to have to improve my grammar too.
