Dear readers,

In this chapter I would like to introduce my teams that are collaborating and supporting us in this wonderful project.

In order to do that, I prepared an interview but let’s take a few steps back to understand the grouping processes. As soon as we announced the possibility of internship with us for JaLea platforms in January, around 35 students applied to join our team. Some of them, as Ms. Giulia Verzini and Mr. Simone Albesano, started their adventure with us in the first internship session due to Covid-19 last year, so they are now able to mentor the new ones. Since we started the project, our goal was to actively & responsibly involve the students into their own lifelong learning process, according to NoLBrick stance.

Before starting the activities, we decided to divide the students into 5 different working teams:

The Grammar Team

Headed by Ms. Giulia Verzini as senior trainee, Mr. Simone Albesano and Mr. Tommaso Cavalieri as junior trainee, the team is focusing on reviewing and renewing the grammar issues in Jalea platform, providing to the members the chance to study Japanese Grammar in depth, extremely important for those who are interested in building a career as a japanese language teacher.

The Video Team

Headed by Ms. Asia De Pol, the group is responsible for renewing the media section of Jalea. All the team members are refining their online browsing competence (especially youtube), searching the most suitable authentic materials to exemplify a designated item or expression.

The Photos Team

Headed by Ms. Elisa Roda, the team is working on the photos album section of Jalea for more updated pictures.

Both Video and Photo Team are playing an important role for Jalea platform: they are contributing in finding original materials from Japan that can be used in class as teaching materials, coherently to the vision behind the project: thus, our motto is 目と耳に入ってくる日本語だけで i.e. “live Japanese only”.

Jalea Facebook Page

The SNS Team

The team is headed by Angela De Toni and Lorenzo Duca (also responsible for Jalea Business). Since we would like to introduce Ca Foscari students to our platforms, the social networks team will play an important role in building relationships and bringing them closer to Jalea. They just started to post on facebook and instagram: have a look here!

A4edu and the Technical Dictionaries

Team leader is William Reed: while reviewing already existing entries in a4edu,  he is supervisioning 6 students who are collecting entries and translation for editing technical dictionaries. This is a fundamental step in order to prepare the Japanese – Italian dictionary-app of Jalea, which will be completed and available next year, for all the Japanese language students, of any academic year,  not limited to Ca’ Foscari University.

This multidimensional project offers the students an extremely precious opportunity to learn how to collaborate in a high number team, acquire IT skills which are the key competences to build their future career and learn about contemporary Japan.

Let’s find out in my next post how sekininsha are dealing with their role and group! Stay tuned!!
