In January 2020, I, as a part of NoLBrick panel organised with AProf Mariotti and Ms Alessandrini, presented a study examining the change of facilitators using a theory called communities of practice. The study revealed how the group of facilitators changed how the facilitators interacted with one another, and one of the facilitators questioned and addressed what it means to be a teacher/facilitator in a language teaching and learning context. The panel which we began organising when I just moved to Italy from Australia became a window into the world of critical, dialogic and transformative pedagogy for Japanese as a foreign language education, which was certainly nothing but thought-provoking. The investigation into the NoLBrick project is still partial. I hope to see more and more study about the project in the future to understand such an innovative attempt and offer insights from the project to the educators and learners across contexts.
